Right before Christmas break I had four newborn sessions back to back. Talk about crazy! It always surprises me when these teeny tiny mamas have such big babies! Beautiful little Leah (actually, not so little at 9 pounds!) was literally perfection for her session. After having a slew of boys in the studio, it was so much fun to pull out all the frills and flowers and lace.
I like to give parents a teaser with a few samples from the session on social media. Occasionally, I choose to do an Animoto video instead of a collection of static images. Here is Leah's teaser video that was shared on Facebook. (more…)
Benjamin was my last boy of 2016 and rounded out my boy sessions to 25 total for the year. This was the year of boys! I was very grateful that he was in a milk-drunk state the entire session. He slept like a dream and I felt like I could hang him upside down and he wouldn't care!(more…)
I had the pleasure of meeting the Smith family a few years ago when I photographed a Legacy session for their family. The last time I saw Rylan he was a tiny baby and now he's a big brother. Their family recently moved back to South Carolina and I was excited to hear that they were home and that they'd just had a baby girl! Carmen was slightly older than my preferred age for newborns, but she slept like a dream and I got some amazing images for her family. (more…)
It's always encouraging when you see returning clients in the studio. I first met Katie, Allison Rae's mama, when she taught one of our three boys in elementary school. A few years ago I photographed her older sister Graelyn's newborns. I love watching these families grow and it's so much fun to have siblings come in for their newborns or milestones. It's amazing to me when two siblings look nothing alike, but that was not the case with these two. Allison Rae reminds me so much of her big sister!(more…)
On November 12 I attended the Mommy Expo, hosted by Lexington Mommy (you can check out my table here). While I was there Adaline's mom, Jackie, stopped by and picked up a business card. Two weeks later she booked a newborn session and I was so pleased to be able to photograph her family. After photographing a ton of boys, I was looking forward to having a girl in the studio.(more…)
Almost a Halloween baby, little Carson came in for his newborn shoot at eleven days old. For his session, his mom brought the tie his dad wore on their wedding day and it was such a great prop for the session. I can't wait to do milestones with Carson and watch as he grows into his dad's tie! Newborn photography sessions are so much fun for me- getting to play around with tiny hands and feet and round cheeks. I seriously have the best job.(more…)
