Ethan’s Newborn Session – A Baby in a Drawer
Allen’s Newborn Lifestyle Photography Shoot
Emory’s Newborn Session
As always, I enjoyed having the chance to photograph a baby girl and bring out all of my flowers and ruffles and headbands. A little backstory on how I met her family:
Two years ago I wanted to start a project on adoption. I contacted the Henderson family to see if they were interested in having me come and document their adoption. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to capture that process as it ended up taking place out of state. Though I did not photograph their daughter Ella’s newborns, I have photographed their family portraits and Christmas pictures for the past two years. I was so excited when they asked to do a newborn session for Ella’s baby sister Emory, who they also chose to adopt. (more…)Newborn Ethan Rocks His St. Louis Cardinals Hat!
Ethan was so great for his newborn session! After I had my knee surgery in 2016, I had the pleasure of meeting Ethan's mom at my physical therapist's office. If anybody has ever had physical therapy, you know that in spending so much time there, you get to know everybody. While I was there I started talking to her and she found out that I was a newborn photographer. I was so excited when she emailed me this past fall letting me know that she was expecting!
In general, I let my newborn clients know that I have all the props and backgrounds for their session. However, some clients will bring in something important to them and I'll see if I can work it into their session. Ethan's daddy loves the St. Louis Cardinals! How cute is he in his first Cardinals hat. (more…)
Stone’s Newborn Session
I started the year with a little boy in the studio. I shot Mr. Stone when he was nine days old and nine pounds heavy. He was so adorable and I loved that he sat in my posing pod chair!

Benjamin was my last boy of 2016 and rounded out my boy sessions to 25 total for the year. This was the year of boys! I was very grateful that he was in a milk-drunk state the entire session. He slept like a dream and I felt like I could hang him upside down and he wouldn't care!

It's always encouraging when you see returning clients in the studio. I first met Katie, Allison Rae's mama, when she taught one of our three boys in elementary school. A few years ago I photographed her older sister Graelyn's newborns. I love watching these families grow and it's so much fun to have siblings come in for their newborns or milestones. It's amazing to me when two siblings look nothing alike, but that was not the case with these two. Allison Rae reminds me so much of her big sister!

Almost a Halloween baby, little Carson came in for his newborn shoot at eleven days old. For his session, his mom brought the tie his dad wore on their wedding day and it was such a great prop for the session. I can't wait to do milestones with Carson and watch as he grows into his dad's tie! Newborn photography sessions are so much fun for me- getting to play around with tiny hands and feet and round cheeks. I seriously have the best job.
